Tall zip-line riding attracts adventure sports enthusiasts to Dubai

If you want a bird's-eye view of the city of Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), then a helicopter isn't the best way to get it.

A zip-line, 170 meters tall and 1000 meters long, designed by the company XDubai, enables visitors to travel at a speed of up to 80 km per hour above skyscrapers, the bay and yachts and finally landing inside a shopping mall.

“It’s a tall jump from here. So I don’t know what will happen to me. I hope to arrive all in one piece down to land actually,” said one rider.

The thrilling experience has intimidated many; every week there are visitors who decide to back out at the last second.

However, for enthusiasts and dare devils, the excitement is just what they are looking for, even if the price is high at 650 dirhams, or about 177 US dollars, they are still eager for a ride.

“It just gives you an experience that you can’t literally face anywhere else. You know, another alternative to get the views that you’ll be able to see while you are waiting to take off from the take-off platform and also going down the line is through a helicopter. However, that, in my personal experience, is a bit louder and you won’t be able to get as close as you are with the line,” said Mohammed Javad, the general manager of XDubai.
