Fans emotional as ‘Avengers’ saga comes to an end

On Los Angeles’ famed Hollywood Boulevard, some of the first people to see the new film were those who took part in a sold-out movie marathon at the historic El Capitan Theater, watching all 22 Avengers films back to back over almost three days.

“It was well worth the three days of being in there, you know. I’m just full of emotions,” said Susan Macias, 44, one of the marathon watchers, after seeing ‘Endgame’.

“Very emotional for everybody, but overall it was just an amazing, amazing movie,” said Jacqueline Moreno, 26.

Across the street from El Capitan, Hollywood’s landmark TCL Chinese Theater held a costume contest ahead of its first screening of the movie, with fans dressing up as Ant Man, Black Widow, Captain America and others.

The three-hour action spectacle, which has been held tightly under wraps, picks up where last year’s “Avengers: Infinity War” left fans hanging when several beloved heroes appeared to turn to dust.

The movie may set an opening weekend record in the domestic market, according to box office analysts.

Web-based movie ticketing platform Fandango reported on Thursday the movie was the biggest pre-seller in Fandango history, with 8,000 sold out showtimes across the U.S.

“We’ve never seen anything like it, it’s probably going to be our biggest advance ticket seller for a long time,” said Fandango correspondent Nikki Novak.

The 21 previous movies from the Walt Disney Co-owned Marvel studio are the highest-grossing franchise in film history, generating more than $18.6 billion at global box offices since 2007.
