Apple CEO Tim Cook said on Wednesday (March 25) the company has procured and is donating 10 million protective face masks to U.S. medical workers to protect them against COVID-19.
He made the announcement in a video posted on his Twitter account.
As coronavirus cases have surged across the U.S., the protective equipment that hospital staff and other healthcare providers need is in short supply.
Masks, gloves, gowns, face shields and other supplies protect healthcare workers from the virus, and also reduce the risk of spreading it from one patient to the next.
