HPD officer rear-ended by a drunk driver

HOUSTON – A woman has been arrested after she rear-ended a Houston police officer.

The accident happened right after midnight early Thursday morning. The officer says he was allowing another vehicle to pass in front of him when he was rear-ended by the female.

She was later arrested for DWI.

Investigators say she had two small children in the car with her at the time and as a result, the sergeant on the scene says charges could be upgraded because she put them at risk.

No injuries were reported, but her grey Lexus did endure heavy damage to the front and hood area. The officers’ squad car had minor rear bumper damage.
